The couple had three daughters: Heather, Elizabeth and Nancy.Īfter graduating, Fritsch was hire by Kennedy Drugs in Kitchener but within a year, Fahrner convinced the young druggist to come work for him. Two years later, he married Hespeler-born Margaret Williams, having met the office worker at a football game. When Fritsch finished high school, he pursued a pharmacy degree from the University of Toronto, graduating in 1953. The childless couple even nicknamed him Oscar, though no-one else called him that. It was a business his protégé would eventually own and convert into a fragrance shop.įahrner and his wife Elsie were neighbours of the Fritsch family and had a particular fondness for the boy. Michael Fritsch was a lad of 11 when he pedalled around town on a bicycle, delivering drugs for Erwin Fahrner, owner since 1929 of Fahrner’s Pharmacy. ![]() ![]() There are numerous stories of heritage businesses in downtown Kitchener, but none quite like Fritsch Fragrances. ![]()
